A native of New Mexico, Shelley Ames has lived in Hendersonville for nearly 40 years.  She and her husband Don enjoy this area and have been involved in the community for many years.
Shelley worked at Hendersonville Medical Center for 18 years serving in many capacities. Her last role was that of patient advocate which led to her passion for the needs of patients in the healthcare setting.  In 2005, Shelley and Dr. Ted Hill formed a non-profit to serve the working uninsured of Sumner County. This medical clinic served patients who worked but lacked access to medical care.  Retiring in 2017, Ames joined the Community Life Bridge board and quickly embraced their mission.
Ames has served on several non-profit boards in the community, including the Hendersonville Area Chamber of Commerce, United Way of Sumner County and the Sumner County Library Board.  Ames is currently the president of the League of Women Voters of Hendersonville and serves on the board of the League of Women Voters of Tennessee.
