Takacs McGinnis Elder Care Law is delighted to announce that Tim Takacs and Barbara McGinnis have been recognized in the 2024 edition of The Best Lawyers in America® for their work in the field of elder law. Chris Johnson has been recognized in the 2024 Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch® in America for his work in elder law, trusts, and estates.

Since it was first published in 1983, Best Lawyers® has become universally regarded as the definitive guide to legal excellence. Best Lawyers recognitions are compiled based on an exhaustive Purely Peer Review® evaluation. Takacs McGinnis Elder Care Law is honored to have all three attorneys in the practice recognized on this distinguished list.

Nationally known in legal circles, Takacs has been in private practice in the Nashville area since 1980. He is the architect of Life Care Planning, a philosophical approach to elder law that has transformed the way this specialty of law is practiced in the United States. Takacs is a prolific author, contributor, and presenter on the topic of elder law. He is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and Vanderbilt University School of Law.

McGinnis has more than a decade of experience as an elder law attorney. Before receiving her license to practice law in Tennessee, she spent more than two decades working as a Registered Nurse and Gerontological Nurse Practitioner, and nearly ten years as director of nursing services at a large continuing care retirement center in the Nashville area. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Austin Peay State University, a master’s degree as a Gerontological Nurse Practitioner from Vanderbilt University, and a Juris Doctor degree from Nashville School of Law.

Johnson joined Takacs McGinnis Elder Care Law in 2018 after accumulating more than two decades of legal and military experience. Prior to his retirement from military service in 2014, Chris had achieved the rank of Major and was heading the Legal Services Support Team serving Marine Corps Air Station, Cherry Point, North Carolina. Johnson holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy and a Juris Doctor degree from the College of William and Mary School of Law.
